after a few days in florence we hopped on an early morning train and headed down to rome. as i have mentioned before, i did not love rome the last time i visited due to some extreme weather conditions, but i am very happy to say that this visit was so much better! 🙂
due to a connection of my father-in-law, we got the most amazing tour of st. peter’s basilica which was by far one of my favorite stops of the trip. that was one thing i loved the last time i visited and with his tour and knowledge i now love it a thousand times more.
another thing i loved was rome at night. the city just absolutely comes alive! the piazzas fill up with local teenagers, the alleyways are all lit up with a glow, and musicians around every corner offer the perfect soundtrack.
after a full day in rome we took a day trip to a place called montecassino to visit the abbey founded by saint benedict where he started his religious order. since our college is “benedictine college” it was a very special stop for us. i had pretty low expectations, i mean monks made the place so how pretty can it be? those were my thoughts until we arrived. it is situated at the very top of a mountain overlooking all of cassino and the grounds are incredible! not only that but the church is one of the prettiest i have ever seen and is covered in so many beautiful paintings and mosaics (my favorite)! plus the weather was absolutely incredible which definitely made me one happy camper 🙂
this outfit was perfect for a day of walking around: a favorite pair of jeans, some sneaks, a leather jacket and scarf to fit in and keep warm, and literally the world’s softest t-shirt. if you have not already heard of everlane, do yourself a favor and check them out. their t-shirts are a fabulous price point and really great quality!
