FRIDAY FIVE.

FRIDAY FIVE.

happy friday!  coming back to work after a vacation is always hard and even harder when all i can think about are the upcoming holidays.  anyone else counting down the days until christmas?  i cannot believe how quickly it is coming up, i need to start shopping for gifts!  and yes, i said start… i’ve only bought one gift so far.  maybe i need to take my own advice and check out my gift guides 😉

anyways, my top five from the past week…

——————–
ONE: getting to experience chicago with matt.  he has always told me how much he loved chicago and i had only ever been once for a conference so did not really get to see the city.  it was fun being able to experience it with him and have him point out the places he had been and what each building was, and his memories from past visits.
TWO: finally meeting alexa, who i had considered a friend for the past year, in person!  such a doll, we had a great time chatting over lunch and making plans to hopefully get together again.
THREE: i love trying new restaurants around the city and always have a list going of places to try.  renee kelly’s harvest has been on my radar for about a year now after a recommendation from a friend and i finally got to try it last night.  let me just say, it absolutely blew me away!  miss renee kelly herself came and chatted for a long time and she is darling and the food was absolutely incredible.  i will definitely be posting more about it.
FOUR: started a new book and am loving it so far – the husband’s secret by liane moriarty.  in my opinion, one of the best parts of winter is bundling up with a good book and a cup of coffee!
FIVE: christmas decorations going up everywhere!  i have been loving everyone’s decorations around town and when we were in chicago a bunch of the stores had special window displays and lights.  everything is so much more magical during the christmas season!

  • So glad you enjoyed Chicago! It's one of the top places on my list of places to visit!
And I totally agree with you about bundling up with a book and something warm to drink. That book looks really interesting- will have to add it to my list!

    This Side of Paradise

    • you should definitely make a trip out there, though ideally when it warms up a bit! 😉

  • Aww I totally agree, Christmas is seriously the BEST! I started putting up some of our decorations shortly after Halloween, jumping a gun a little, but it's just too great!
    Have a fab weekend!

    • i don't even blame you! people always get all huffy puffy when people bring stuff out before thanksgiving but if you don't the whole christmas season goes by so quickly!

  • I was drooling over the picture of the dinner that you put up last night…looks so good! And yes to winter cuddling with books and coffee 🙂

  • Yay! Chicago is a city that will always have my heart even though I only lived there for a year and a half. You both look so happy, and I love your boots! I've been trying to get my hands on them but they are sold out everywhere, you lucky duck 🙂

    • thank you lauren. i definitely think it doesn't take long for your heart to fall in love with a place and i can see why you love chicago so much!

the boots are sooo difficult to get, i will admit! it's funny because you have to order them when it's still warm out because if you wait until it's cold and actual bean boot season, they are gone!

  • Your Chicago pics are all so cute!! I loved seeing all of your adventures! I definitely need to make a trip back there soon. I'm also a huge fan of your Friday Fives. I think it's such a fun way to end the week!
