First off, thank you all for the sweet birthday wishes over the weekend, it meant so much to me!
I hope you all had a wonderful week, it seemed to be a pretty good one over here, but in my opinion, it’s hard to have a bad week during the summer months. Everyone is just in a better mood, amiright?!
That being said, it was a particularly good one over here, mostly because it was #birthdayweek, more on that below 😉

ONE: On Saturday we ventured back to
Michigan (haha the border is like 10 minutes away but it sounds more dramatic this way 😉 This time the destination was Silver Beach in St. Joseph and we had the best day! Call me ignorant, or blonde,
or whatever, but I had no idea the water would be so warm! I know that we are comparing lakes to oceans here, but it was warmer than the water at the beaches in California and that blew my mind!
TWO: Started watching the Australian reality show
Fashion Bloggers. So far so good – it’s not like an American reality show, I think I would compare it more to a docu-series. Anyone else seen it? I think they are wrapping season 2 now but I am starting from the beginning.
THREE: I’ve been working from home this week which meant some lunch dates with Matt and tell me, is there anything better than lunch dates?! Maybe, but not many.
FOUR: Sunday after church, Matt asked me if I would like him to make me cupcakes which I thought was the sweetest thing ever. Granted he regretted that offer halfway through using a whisk to mix together the batter and cream cheese frosting since we don’t own beaters… but honestly it was one of my favorite parts of my birthday because he hates cooking/baking so it was really thoughtful.
FIVE: Soaking up these last few weeks of great weather and having the campus all to ourselves before the undergrads return (and before I hit another busy season, woof) with evening walks around the lake and all over campus. One of the upsides of the fact that I don’t cook dinner (like, ever) is that we have soooo much more time to enjoy our evenings outside.

PS: I am so excited because next weekend (August 15th) I am attending my first blog conference up here in Chicago – Create + Cultivate. If you’re in the area, you should definitely consider coming. The lineup includes Rachel Parcel of Pink Peonies, Jenny Bernheim of Margo and Me, Amber Fillerup of Barefoot Blonde, the ladies behind The Everygirl, Garance Dore, and more! There are luckily a few tickets left, get yours HERE!
