A few weeks ago we decided to head up to another beach town along Lake Michigan – that day’s destination: Silver Beach in St. Joseph, MI. It was a great spot to spend the day and was one of my favorite days of the summer. Until I got home and realized that I was friiiied, and only on my back half because I never flipped over while I was reading but that’s another story…
We started the day at Silver Beach Pizza because every article we read mentioned this joint. It was located underneath the bluff just steps away from the beach. I am kind of picky when it comes to pizza and still thought this was a pretty good spot! Then we walked on down to the beach and picked a spot to stake our claim. The beach here was humongous; it was nice because we had our own area and didn’t have to be right up next to any other groups and we were able to take long leisurely walks all up along the water.
The water was the perfect temperature (much warmer than it was over the Fourth of July weekend) and it remained shallow for quite a ways so we enjoyed wading out and cooling down. Once we decided we were too fried to stay any longer, we stopped by Dairy Korner on the way out of town for some ice cream. It’s a super cute little spot and the soft serve was the bomb, but I will say this place was not big on efficiency. Tons of options but the menu is posted all over and not organized and the kids behind the counter were in no hurry. But worth it regardless! It was the perfect sweet treat to top off a great beach day!
