The return of the 90s has me really giddy. Now that we are far enough removed from the generation that we can determine what was truly quintessential to it, it’s been so fun seeing what is making a comeback, especially as it relates to style. As a 90s kid myself, it has been entertaining to remix some childhood favorites into my current day wardrobe.
Two things that I associate with the 90s (along with crop tops, Adidas, and mood rings) are knee high socks and corduroy everything – I am pretty sure I had every article of clothing in corduroy form! Given that the suede button-front skirt has been a bit overdone, I about died when I laid eyes on this corduroy version. It has everything I love about the suede skirt and conjurs up those sentimental memories of winters many years ago. As for knee high socks, I was never into them as a kid (I was a total tomboy) but I think that over-the-knee boots are the present day version. I’ve raved about OTK boots many times before but I think they are so chic!
Boohoo recently launched a collaboration with Charli XCX inspired by the time period and it is full of all the essentials: velvet, fur, chokers, and platforms. I mean, can’t you just see Cher rocking these platforms with this dress ala Clueless?!
I’d love to hear, how are you incorporating the 90s into your style these days?
