As this year comes to an end, it is always fun to take a look back. My annual “Year in Review” series is one of my favorites to do where each day I share my favorite outfits, books I read, a playlist of my favorite songs from 2015, and travels from the year. It’s so crazy the things I forget happened until I go look back and it acts as a great time for reflection and preparation for the upcoming year.
To start things off, here are 25 of my favorite looks from 2015 with my absolute favorite saved for last…
I’ve linked each of the full posts if you want to see more pictures and have included updated links here below each image.
Attending a blog conference is hard because you know you’ll be surrounded by tons of other fashionable and inventive girls. This dress was the perfect find for Create + Cultivate and adding the hat made it so “me”!

I borrowed this blazer from a friend and regret not buying it for myself. Love the punch it gave to this all white outfit.

My favorite outfit from New York Fashion Week. Something so chic and classic about black and white, and the blazer cape was so much fun to wear!

One day last winter I challenged myself to style a maxi skirt. Typically maxis are reserved for the summer months, so I loved pairing it with booties, a chunky knit, and a jean jacket for a day around town.

True life, I wore this exact outfit at least three times last winter, accessories and all. You can’t go wrong with all black, especially in the dead of winter, but adding an oversized white fur vest adds such a playful touch.

Such a simple weekend outfit but I love this one because those are one of my favorite pants that I’ve had since high school that everyone always teases me about. But it doesn’t matter because I feel so great in them, love the color and the oversized fit. The people who say we dress for others are totally wrong!

This inspiration post for what to wear to a formal holiday party was one of my absolute favorites. A little red dress is a quintessential holiday piece but the lace sleeves and back set this one apart. Plus, we got so lucky with that snowfall, so dreamy!

This one was actually an outfit I threw together in about five minutes when heading out with my husband one night and when I posted it to Instagram it got so much love that I re-worn it to shoot for the blog. I love the simplicity of the black and white with the pop of pink in those sunglasses. Also, I rarely wear my hair up here on the blog, so that was a fun change.

These trousers. I pined after them for a full year and finally pulled the trigger for Fashion Week. I only wish I had bought them sooner! They instantly make me feel street style chic and they are so comfy because they are lined so they feel like lounge pants.

This bow tie and these over-the-knee boots have been my wardrobe MVPs lately so it felt natural to pair them together. The bow adds just the right amount of femininity to what could otherwise be a very masculine shirtdress.

My outfit from the Fourth of July, spent up in Michigan. This vintage silk scarf is such a treasured piece in my wardrobe and I have worn it so many ways here on the blog, but this may have been my favorite. So effortless and adds just the right amount of flair to an otherwise simple look.

A great weekend outfit, here I had challenged myself to come up with a chic but cozy way to wear joggers. This embellished scarf paired with a blanket scarf were the perfect pairings.

There were a few weeks of heavy transition from summer to fall, the weather could NOT decide which one it wanted to be. The sweater and booties allowed me to dive into some of my fall fashion favorites, while the faux leather shorts kept me grounded since it was still probably in the 70s.

Loved what the faux fur snood did for this outfit. Otherwise, it’s a pretty simple fall look: faux leather skirt, plaid flannel, and riding boots. I loved how the combination came together.

Again with the black and white. I was in San Francisco with a friend and if you’ve ever been then you know the weather is really finicky and typically pretty cool and breezy so this outfit did the trick. My favorite parts were probably my hat (favorite one of the summer!) and over-the-knee boots. These are the same as my black ones – I love them so much I got both!

I used to be uber preppy, all J.Crew all the time. It’s been fun to watch my style evolve over the past few years, but sometimes it is fun to go all preppy again, which is why I loved this look so much. The entire outfit was actually borrowed from my sister-in-law on one of our visits!

One of my most popular looks of 2015, I rented this gown from Rent the Runway to wear to a gala event this winter and it was an absolute dream. I think the only time I have ever felt more beautiful is on my wedding day!

My love for a good Canadian Tuxedo has been well-documented here on the blog, but before this post I had generally kept it pretty simple: a denim bottom and a denim top, maybe some accessories. This was the first time I had added another layer and I absolutely loved the look! Not only did the neutrals add some great color (or lack thereof) to the look, but the longer length of the cardigan added great dimension.

I loved so much about this: the fact that we were in Dallas in December and it was in the 70s so I could layer, the color combination of red and olive green, my new brown riding boots, the flirty ruffle on this red dress (not very visible above but see the full post), or this super soft scarf. It all just came together perfectly!

Something about them just look so sophisticated and they can all be paired together, no problem. I fell in love with this sleeveless trench for early fall, it adds such dimension without adding bulk, perfect for those days when it is still fairly warm, but there is a slight breeze in the air.

This was my first post in my Adidas Sambas after I got them for Easter. As I mentioned in the full post, I had wanted these shoes since the seventh grade, so I was pretty over the moon excited! They add such a fun off-duty element to any look. And that tunic dress was on major repeat all summer long. In fact, I now own it in three colors.

I wore this look for a night of runway shows during Kansas City Fashion Week. It’s louder and brighter than anything I typically wear, but I loved the combo nonetheless. I loved how the pink heels and mint jewelry brought out some of the color in the chiffon cardigan. It was fun styling this cardigan in another way, I had previously worn it as a maxi dress over a slip, and as a swimsuit coverup.

When I went home to California earlier in the year, I hijacked this dress from my little sister as soon as I got there and wore it probably three or four of the days I was there. I just loved the details, the open back, and the overlay. She took these pictures and we pretty much just laughed our butts off the entire time!

This was one of my last posts with long hair! It was just a simple outfit I threw together to walk around the Crossroads and grab dinner with my husband, but I just loved how much I felt like myself in it. I loved the ripped knee detail, and this tank is seriously the best I have ever owned! It’s crazy soft (sometimes I wear it to bed), the cut is really flattering (I typically hate shirts that show my arms), and the swing shape is really nice.

Far and away my favorite post of 2015! I’ve sung the praises of these trousers before and just loved the simplicity of pairing it with a black turtleneck. I added interest with leopard pumps, statement earrings, and a red lip, but the real show-stealer was the snowy backdrop. I couldn’t have dreamed up a better setting!
