Today we off on another roadtrip down to Kansas City, this time for my best friend’s wedding! Though our trip will be very short, we are so excited to be back, see family, and of course witness my best friend get married. As I look forward to the weekend, reflecting on five highlights from the week…
——————
ONE: I’m getting a niece!!! On Thanksgiving my brother broke the news that his wife is pregnant and we were going to be aunts and uncles which was pretty much the best news ever and this week they found out it’s a GIRL! I am so excited and also can’t help but laugh because my poor brother grew up with 5 sisters and no brothers and now he is getting yet another girl hahahaha.
TWO: Editorial Calendar. Up until now I have been a last-minute blogger for the most part, not planning too far in advance. Sometimes I would have grand ideas but would forget to plan them in advance and then suddenly it was too late. Last week I downloaded this editorial calendar and have been so motivated to get everything in order. It makes it really easy to stay organized and I think it will really help me bring great content to GHL at the right time. If you’re a fellow blogger, you should consider it!
THREE: YouTube channel. I already have a channel (it has a few travel videos and a hair tutorial) but I’ve decided that this year I am going to ramp it up with some regular videos – and also figure out how to upload videos so they don’t look blurry :/ (I swear they look clear on my computer, it’s just when I upload them!) I am thinking of starting with “Monthly Favorites” videos because I love watching those – they are a fun way to discover new products, music, foods, etc and also get reassurance about a product I may have considered purchasing. I also hope to do a few more travel videos because I love being able to look back on those. Let me know if there is anything else in particular you want to see!
FOUR: Closet purge. It finally came to the point where I realized that hoarding things just for the sake of having a large wardrobe or the off chance I may need something down the road made absolutely no sense. We live in a tiny one bedroom for goodness sake! Over the past few weeks I’ve been adding items to a pile full of really great stuff that I just don’t have room for and over the weekend I packaged it all up and sent it to my sisters. Actually I didn’t tell them I was sending it and its delivery was delayed due to Storm Jonas so if they are reading this I may have just spoiled the surprise 😉 It felt so good to be able to lean out my closet and separate from items (they’re just things after all!) while also feeling good about what I did with them!
FIVE: Troye Sivan. I discovered the song “YOUTH” a few weeks ago and have been obsessed ever since but hadn’t thought to listen to any of his other songs until this week. The dude is GOOD! His music has a really different sound to it and I found myself adding song after song to my “January” playlist. Definitely give him a listen.
