It has been quite a while since my last Friday Five check-in (three weeks to be exact) and I am not sure how that happened except that it was the holidays and I took some time off! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s and that you are starting the new year feeling rested, rejuvenated, and excited for what is to come!
Five highlights from the past few weeks…
—————-
ONE: We finally finished our living room! It has been 90% complete for the entire time we have lived here, but finally found the perfect piece of art for above our couch. Funny how one piece can pull a whole room together.
TWO: Along with everyone and their dog, Matt and I started Making a Murderer and while we both agree it pales in comparison to the first season of Serial, we are totally hooked. We are over halfway through and I just canNOT decide if I think he is guilty or not. Do you think he did it or do you think he was framed?!
THREE: We drove down to Kansas to spend Christmas with Matt’s family. It was our first Christmas with his side of the family; in the past we have done Thanksgiving with them and Christmas with mine so it was fun to take part in all their traditions. Though I will say that sleeping in a house with kids under the age of 8 is exhausting – they were up before 5 AM ready to see what Santa brought!
FOUR: One of my favorite Christmas presents was the littlest thing: a lipstick that my little sisters bought me. But I promise you, there is a reason this was my favorite! A frightening green shade in the tube, it goes on clear and glossy, and within 30 seconds it reacts with the pH level in your lips to turn a perfect shade of pink! Since it is based on your pH level, the color will develop a little differently for everyone, giving you a completely unique shade that is perfect for you! It feels ultra moisturizing due to the shea butter and vitamin E formula so I’ve been using it in place of chapstick these past few weeks – I’m obsessed!
FIVE: Over the weekend, Matt and I went into Chicago for the weekend. We have been multiple times before but this time we wanted to “feel like we lived there” so we rented an Airbnb and really had the best time. I think I might write up a full blog post about our weekend because it was too good to share in a short blurb here, but some highlights were finally visiting the six-story Restoration Hardware (complete with a restaurant, wine bar, coffee shop, and rooftop!), walking out on the glass Skydeck 103 floors up in the Willis Tower, and admiring all the adorable brownstones in Lincoln Park that still had their holiday decorations up.
