If you were to ask anyone their “Top 10 Wardrobe Must-Haves”, you would find that nearly everyone will name off timeless classics: a white tee, blue jeans that fit like a glove, a light trench, black pumps, a great blazer, a striped top… you get the idea.  You will rarely see “trendy” items included in these lists, because they are all about the basic building blocks that will work for years to come.  I mentioned it before, but this year one of my goals is to build a better closet of basics.  They are the items I always need but since they aren’t as “fun” I tend to choose other things when buying – I can’t be the only one who does this!

To start myself off on the right foot, I made a few smart purchases earlier this month: this white long sleeve tee, these jeans, and this trench.  They can be mixed and matched so many ways, but I love how they all look together.  Finished off with a red lip and gold jewelry, I was feeling good about my resolution!

To me, gold will always be the most classic of all metals.  Growing up I was partial to silver because I considered gold to be “what old people wear” but as I grew older (and wiser) I realized that was simply because gold was the most classic and would never go out of style.  This coordinating Roman numeral bangle and ring have that timeless look to them and are super affordable.  I particularly love the bangle because it snaps shut as opposed to having to slide it on over your hand; since I have small wrists most bangles are too big on me!  Lucky for you, the code “tpb-mkminnis_ghl” will get you 15% off your order from The Peach Box!  You can pick up these pieces or anything else that catches your eye – I am loving this bangle, this one, this necklacethis ring and this one, too.  The code is good until the end of the month (1/31), so don’t wait too long!

  • You look gorgeous in these photos! White tee, blue jeans, khaki trench, and pops of red may forever be my favorite look! And I’m with you on the metals….I used to avoid gold like the plague, but now it’s pretty much all I reach for.

  • Why do I look absolutely stupid in a tan trench? I guess it means I won’t need to get a Burberry trench but as much as I look stupid in them, they are such a great, classic piece. I love the way you added those pops of red! So perfect!

For the longest time I felt the exact same way, I think it has to a) be the perfect fit and b) be the correct shade of tan. My last one was much too orange and stopped at a weird length. But hey, if we can just get the Burbs ones, that will certainly work just fine 😉

  • Gorgeous outfit hon you look amazing the red purse and shoes adds a nice d=edge to the outfit.
