The good thing about classics: you know they’ll always work.
The bad thing about classics: if the fit isn’t just right, your basic looks will just appear boring.
My dilemma: the striped tee.
I specifically remember the first striped tee I bought. It was back in high school and it was a classic blue and white striped 3/4 sleeve top from H&M that fit slightly oversized – just how I like it. It was so good that my mom went and bought it for herself after seeing mine! However, as is the problem with most $20 tees, it was pretty thin and after a few too many rounds through the washer and dryer, it lost it’s shape and just looked blah. Enter a six (or so) year hiatus where I sought but did not find. Nothing was exactly what I was looking for.
Then recently I saw this striped tee on SheIn and figured “Hey, for $15 it’s worth a shot” and man was I right!!! I almost couldn’t believe my luck when it arrived – I ordered up so it fits slightly oversized, it is a really soft but thick fabric (almost between a tee and a light sweatshirt) so it hangs really nicely and doesn’t cling, and is stretchy enough that I can wear the sleeves full length or scrunch them up 3/4 sleeve style.
While it is black and white as opposed to the true classic blue and white, I am absolutely smitten and don’t even want to admit how many times I have worn it since I got it two weeks ago (hint: more than 5). If you are like me and have been on the hunt for the best striped tee, this is your winner. Just make sure that if you want an oversized fit, you size up like I did but if you prefer fitted tees, order your regular size! I already also bought the red and white version… now if they can just add a blue and white version I would pre-order the shizz out of that!
