One detail you’ve probably been seeing in stores and online at your favorite retailers lately: bell sleeves. They seem to be everywhere and to be honest, I am not mad one bit! It’s a fresh detail that adds a whimsical touch to any piece. Something about how the extra fabric catches the breeze makes me want to twirl around like a 5 year old girl 🙂
I mentioned a few days ago that Matt and I headed to Holland, Michigan one night last week to see what their “Tulip Time” festival was all about and it did not disappoint. The entire town was covered in tulips lining the streets, at the parks, along the waterway, and multiple tulip farms were open for visit. We stopped into Veldheer’s Tulip Garden on our way into town; the garden boasts that they plant over 5 million bulbs and the entire place was covered in countless varieties of tulips – it was breathtaking!
This dress from Mint Julep Boutique was the perfect piece for the visit. The bell sleeves have that 70’s “flower child” feel so I figured heck, why not just go for it and prance around an actual flower field in this gorgeous sky blue number? Paired with simple black accessories, the dress was the shining star, second only to all those tulips!
What I love so much about this dress is that it can be dressed up and down. I feel like a broken record because I say this so often, but it is so important to me when adding items to my (tiny) closet that they be versatile. I went a casual boho route, but it could easily be dressed up with strappy heels and a metallic clutch for a Summer wedding. Plus, the price really can’t be beat at under $50!
