Being on the shorter side (5’5″), I’ve always steered clear of midi dresses, but when I saw this one I had to go for it. The colors (both of Pantone’s colors of the year in one), the print, the flow, the bohemian feel, the loose fit, and the under $40 price tag had me throwing my no midi dresses “rule” right out the window. Plus, I’ve always thought that rules were meant to be, not necessarily broken, but definitely bent from time to time 😉
Based on the fact that I wore it three times in the first week after I got it, I think it’s safe to say I love it. It’s super cute on it’s own because of the neckline/straps which make it really flattering, but while it’s still pretty chilly here a denim jacket is doing the trick. I am so glad that denim jackets came back into style a few years ago because I wear mine all Spring and Summer long. Would you believe me if I said that mine is from Abercrombie and Fitch from freshman year of high school? Just like a fine wine, it gets better with age!
For a slightly dressed up feel, I went with my new block heel sandals. Sometimes you just want a little height and that “dressed up” feel that heels provide, but walking around in stilettos at 10 am is a) aggressive and b) uncomfortable. Enter: block heels. For a more casual feel, I know this dress will look so cute with my Jack Rogers sandals too!
Size Note: Order your regular size in the dress. I was nervous of it being tight across the chest so went a size up, but it’s actually a very loose fit and I could have easily gone with my regular size.
